Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival in Sarajevo
Meet-and-greet at Sarajevo airport. Visit to the Tunnel of Hope museum, the lifeline of the city during the 1990s siege. City tour of Sarajevo, the Balkans' cultural crossroads: the Baščaršija bazaar, the Ottoman-era Morića Han, the Catholic cathedral and the synagogue, the Gazi Husrev-beg and Ferhadija mosques, the Latin Bridge where the 1914 assassination that triggered the First World War took place, the old City Hall and the Austro-Hungarian quarter. Transfer to the hotel. Bosnian folklore evening with dinner and live music. Overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 2 — Sarajevo – Mostar – Počitelj – Sarajevo
Breakfast, then a scenic drive along the Neretva river to Mostar, Herzegovina's largest city. Walking tour: the UNESCO-listed Old Bridge (built 1557, destroyed in 1993 and rebuilt with original materials and techniques in 2004), the Kujundžiluk bazaar and the Koski Mehmed Pasha mosque, with free time for photos. Continue to Blagaj, where the Buna river rises beneath a cliff next to a 16th-century dervish lodge, then to Počitelj, a small fortified Ottoman village of stone houses. Return to Sarajevo. Dinner and overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 3 — Sarajevo – Vrelo Bosne – Travnik – Sarajevo
Breakfast, then a morning walk in Vrelo Bosne nature park, the spring of the Bosna river. Drive to Travnik, the residence of the Ottoman viziers of Bosnia: the fortress and its view over the town, the 300-year-old Ibrahim Pasha madrasa, the Plava Voda spring, the painted Šarena mosque, the bazaar and the clock tower. On the way back, a short stop at the Ahmići memorial, a village marked by the 1990s war. Return to Sarajevo. Dinner and overnight in Sarajevo.
Day 4 — Sarajevo – departure
Breakfast and free time in Baščaršija until the transfer to Sarajevo airport for the onward flight. End of program.
