Kosovo – North Macedonia Tour

Itinerary

1. Day 1 — Arrival in Pristina – Prizren – Skopje

   Meet-and-greet at Pristina airport. Visit to the mausoleum of Sultan Murad I on the Kosovo Polje plain, site of the 1389 Battle of Kosovo. Motorway drive to Prizren, Kosovo's best-preserved Ottoman-era town: Shadervan square, the Bajrakli and Sinan Pasha mosques, the hammam and the old stone bridge. Continue to North Macedonia and arrival in Skopje for a panoramic tour: the Stone Bridge, the fortress walls, the Ottoman old town and bazaar, the Mustafa Pasha, Sultan Murad and Gazi Isa-beg mosques, the Daut Pasha hammam and the Kapan, Suli and Kuršumli caravanserais (exterior visits). Dinner in the old bazaar, then transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Skopje.

2. Day 2 — Skopje – Bitola – Resen – Ohrid

   Breakfast and drive to Bitola, the old consular city of the Ottoman south: Širok Sokak, the bezistan, the Ishak Pasha and Yeni mosques and the former military academy building (exterior visits). Continue towards Ohrid via Resen, with a stop at the early 20th-century Niyazi Bey mansion, built in French château style. Arrival in Ohrid, the pearl of the Balkans, for the town tour: Činar square, the Turkish bazaar, the Hajdar Kadi and Pir Mehmet Hayati mosques, the bezistan, the churches of Saint Sophia, Saint Kaneo and Saint Panteleimon, Saint Clement's monastery, Samuel's fortress and the old town's traditional houses. Private boat trip on Lake Ohrid for the group, then free time in the bazaar. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Ohrid.

3. Day 3 — Ohrid – Tetovo – Matka Canyon – Skopje

   Breakfast, then a visit to the Saint Naum monastery and springs at the southern end of Lake Ohrid, a UNESCO-protected site where the Cyrillic alphabet was developed. Photo stop at Struga, where the lake flows out into the Black Drin river. Drive along the foothills of the Mavrovo mountains to Tetovo for a visit to the Painted Mosque (Šarena Džamija), famous for its colourful decoration. Continue to Skopje with a walk in Matka Canyon, 14 km from the city. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Skopje.

4. Day 4 — Skopje – Pristina – departure

   Breakfast and drive to Kosovo. Short tour and photo stop in Pristina, then transfer to Pristina airport at the agreed time for the onward flight. End of program.
